Renato Vaghi was appointed Chief Executive Officer in August 2016.
Renato has a significant background in the aerospace industry, which he joined in 1991 as structural analyst at Alenia Aeronautica (Leonardo Aircraft Division). With the exception of a two-year experience as Product Manager with Kone Elevators, he developed most of his career within Finmeccanica-Leonardo, where he covered several assignments with growing responsibility at subsidiaries Alenia Aeronautica and Aermacchi. Among others, he was Chief Project Engineer
on a Propulsion System Integration with General Electric Aviation and Embraer, Head of Production of the military trainer aircraft SF260, Head of Program Management for Commercial Aerostructure and Nacelle Programs, Program Manager for the US Air Force T-X Integrated Training Systems. Renato joined Piaggio Aerospace in June 2014 as Chief Program Officer, in charge of the development of the P.1HH, MPA and Avanti EVO. In April 2015 he was appointed Head of the Aircraft Business Unit and in January 2016 Chief Operating Officer.
Renato holds a MSc in Aeronautical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano and an Executive MBA at SDA Bocconi Business School. He is also a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP©) from Project Management Institute (PMI). A native Italian speaker, Renato is also fluent in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
