XPeng’s X2 eVTOL completes first public flight at Skydive Dubai

Dubai International Chamber hosted the first public flight of Chinese OEM, XPeng’s X2 eVTOL at Skydive Dubai this week.

After taking off the two-seater X2 flying completed a 90min test flight, with a maximum speed of 130km/h. The event was supported by Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and Dubai World Trade Centre Authority.

Hassan Al Hashemi, acting president and CEO, Dubai Chambers said: “Led by the vision of the UAE’s leadership, Dubai has become a magnet and testbed for companies from around the world that bring cutting-edge technologies to the market that support the emirate’s innovation strategy. The decision to debut the X2 flying car in Dubai is a testament Dubai’s position as global innovation leader and hub for future technology.”

Dubai International Chamber has been working with XPeng to explore international markets using Dubai as a gateway.

The event was also attended Dr. Brian Gu, vice chairman and president, XPeng. “The next generation flying car will be intelligent, electric, vertical take off and landing, air-land coupling,” said Gu. “The product has begun to develop since 2020 and is scheduled to be mass produced and delivered in 2024. We hope that our flying car will be a perfect match for Dubai, to jointly explore and build the future of 3D transportation, so that everyone can fly freely in the sky.”

XPeng’s partners include Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Dubai Future Foundation, Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority and Skydive Dubai.
