PLANA has won the Professional Concept category of the iF Design Awards, it announced on Monday.

The iF Design Awards, which are held annually in Germany, are considered one of the top three design awards globally, alongside the Red Dot Design Award and IDEA, with over 11,000 products submitted this year.

Jinmo Lee, chief product officer, PLANA, expressed his delight at winning the iF Design Award and pledged to continue “investing in research and development to stay at the forefront of the air mobility industry”.

The South Korean hybrid AAM aircraft developer’s aircraft was recognised for its design. The aircraft features a six tilt-rotor layout and aerodynamic exterior design. It has a passenger-centric, utility-focused cabin that can accommodate up to six passengers. PLANA now joins other eVTOL developers, including Lilium and Vertical Aerospace, both who have received this prestigious award.

The OEM has now applied for four design registrations with the Korean Intellectual Property Office since last year, with pending applications for various parts of the aircraft, including the cockpit.
