Electric Power Systems appoints Scott Drennan to board
Electric Power Systems (EPS) has appointed electric aviation specialist Scott Drennan, who also serves as president and COO of Otto Aviation, to its board of directors.
With over three decades’ experience in aviation, Drennan’s current role at Otto Aviation involves leading projects looking at the concept of super-natural laminar flow. Otto’s programme aims to achieve a 30% improvement in aerodynamic efficiency, a 60% reduction in fuel burn, a 90% decrease in emissions using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and cost reductions of up to 50%.
“In the highly dynamic electrified aviation business, you need a partner you can trust to ensure safety and drive innovation for our nascent industry,” said Drennan (pictured below right). “However – make no mistake – you also need a partner who believes in you. That’s Electric Power Systems! I am humbled by this appointment and look forward to serving EPS employees and shareholders in this new role.”
Prior to his role at Otto, Drennan founded Drennan Innovation in 2020, consulting on the design, development and deployment of systems-of-systems in aerospace and defence. He began at Bell Helicopter, holding key roles, including VP of Innovation and Advanced Concepts, contributing to the development of concepts such as HSVTOL and eVTOL. Brennan also served as the Chief Research & Development Officer of Hyundai’s AAM division, now known as Supernal. He has also acted as an advisor to Regent, Elroy Air, Radius Engineering and New Vista Capital.
Furthermore from 2009 to 2015, Drennan served as a Designated Engineering Representative (DER) for the FAA, and from 2018 to 2020, he was a member of the NASA Advisory Council (NAC) Aeronautics Committee.
Nathan Millecam CEO of EPS added: “We are thrilled to welcome Scott to our Board of Directors. His wealth of experience and leadership in sustainable aviation perfectly aligns with our commitment to driving innovation in electric battery technology. Together, we look forward to shaping the future of the aerospace industry.
“As a newly appointed member of the Electric Power Systems Board of Directors, Scott is poised to contribute his wealth of experience and visionary leadership to further EPS’s mission of driving sustainable solutions in the aviation sector. The company looks forward to benefiting from his strategic insights and innovative thinking.”
