Cranfield Aerospace Solutions has appointed Richard Moody to chief investment officer to raise cash as the organisation develops a hydrogen aircraft.

Moody (pictured above) joins Cranfield with over 25 years’ experience in investment banking organisations across investor relations, strategic investments and capital raising.

Most recently, Moody was global head of Transportation Finance at Deutsche Bank (DB). In his career at the bank, Moody raised and financed over $75bn across the transportation and infrastructure sectors.

Moody said: “Sustainability and decarbonisation are the major generational themes in the aviation industry today and Cranfield has the engineering and aerospace expertise to play a significant part in this critical agenda. I am delighted to be joining the company at this exciting time as it seeks to develop the world’s first commercially viable hydrogen aircraft.”

Moody previously served as the co-Head of Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy (TIE) Financing for EMEA/Americas. Richard was a member of DB’s Global Credit Financing Solutions Management Committee and Chairman of the Global Transportation Investment Committee.

Paul Hutton, CEO, Cranfield Aerospace said: “Cranfield is leading the introduction of zero-emissions hydrogen propulsion into commercial aircraft, and Richard’s leadership, expertise and experience from the financial sector will be a key attribute as we look to scale the company and raise further capital and develop the commercial partnerships needed to deliver our vision.”
