Lilium has partnered with Atlantic Aviation to prepare its FBO network for the launch of regional air taxi services in the US.

The strategic partnership, agreed through a memorandum of understanding (MoU), will work to ensure compatibility between the Lilium Jet and Atlantic’s network of aviation assets across North America. Atlantic operates sites at more than 30 airport locations within Lilium’s planned launch markets in Florida, Southern California, the northeast corridor and Texas.

Lilium’s head of Partnerships and Public Affairs, Matt Broffman confirmed to Revolution.Aero that the only equipment required at Atlantic facilities would be electric chargers.  The Lilium Jet has been deliberately designed to not need additional thermal management solutions on the ground.”

“This MoU is an initial but important step in our partnership with Atlantic and our effort to bring Lilium Jet operations to our target US markets of Florida, Southern California, Texas, and the northeast corridor,”  said Broffman.

Sebastien Borel, Lilium’s chief commercial officer said: “Our partnership with Atlantic Aviation is a critical step toward realising our vision for a sustainable and accessible mode of high-speed regional travel. Atlantic’s extensive presence across major U.S. cities and expertise in ground infrastructure development and premier customer service will be invaluable in establishing a robust network that supports the Lilium Jet throughout the US.”

Lilium and Atlantic will focus on infrastructure deployment and operations, with a focus on passenger experience, at existing and planned sites. Strategic planning will centre around aircraft flight paths, charging capabilities, passenger facilities, operations forecasting and more.

John Redcay, chief commercial and sustainability officer at Atlantic said: “Atlantic Aviation is eager to work alongside Lilium, a pioneer in the burgeoning eVTOL sector, to construct the necessary infrastructure for their regional air mobility service in the US. This collaboration underscores our firm conviction in the transformative potential of eVTOL technology in reshaping regional travel, and we are dedicated to furnishing the technology-agnostic infrastructure and assistance required to bring this vision to fruition.”

Lilium’s commercialisation focuses on manufacturing and selling the Lilium Jet to various individuals and companies for private, premium and shuttle operations. It will then provide aftermarket support and services for those aircraft.

The announcement follows on from similar agreements Atlantic has announced with Joby Aviation, Archer Aviation and BETA Technologies.
